The Robotic Arm Camera will take photographs of the soil at the tip of the scoop. This will help scientists understand the type of soil into which the arm is digging. Additionally, the RAC will image the walls of the trench to look for any fine-scale layering in the soil that may have resulted from Martian climate changes. (P-50610)
