Apollo 11 Descent Images

apollo11_descent.gif

This series of pictures are from a motion picture, shot by the Apollo 11 astronauts, that documents the final descent of Apollo 11 toward the surface of the Moon. The last image (lower right) shows dust being picked up and blown away from the lander's rocket engines. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin piloted the Apollo 11 Lunar Module, Eagle, to the lunar surface on July 20, 1969.
